Information you submit to this site or through an Instagram listing request, plus the technical minimum to run it:

• Weekly alerts signup: your email address, which part of the site you signed up from (desktop or mobile), and the time of signup.
• Agent waitlist: your email address and the time you joined.
• Subscription records: the list you joined, confirmation and unsubscribe tokens, your subscription status, and when delivery was attempted, confirmation was sent, or consent was confirmed or withdrawn. For weekly emails, we also keep the issue date, send status and provider receipt linked to your subscription, to prevent duplicate sends and investigate uncertain delivery. These records are removed when your subscription record is deleted.
• Server logs: our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, browser type, requested page) for security and error handling. We do not use them to profile you.
• Instagram listing requests: when this feature is enabled, we store your Instagram-scoped account ID, the comment or message ID, the requested post, a temporary listing-request code, and request timestamps so we can deliver the right listing and avoid duplicate replies. After you reply in Instagram, we ask Instagram whether you follow our account before sharing the listing link. We do not retain that follow status. We do not store your username, attachments, or unrelated conversation text in this request queue.

We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Fonts are served from our own site, so viewing a page does not send your visit to a font provider.

We use your email address only for the thing you asked for: the weekly selection of affordable homes, or one email when listing submissions open. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time.

When email sending is available, we send a confirmation email when you sign up. Your address stays marked as pending until you open its confirmation link, and the weekly selection only goes to confirmed addresses. If you never confirm, the address is deleted 30 days after the confirmation email was sent.

We process a listing request to respond to you and prevent duplicate or incorrect replies, based on our legitimate interest in operating this requested service. Instagram and Meta deliver these interactions; normalized request records are stored in Supabase and processed on Vercel. The request queue is cleared daily of records older than seven days, so records normally remain for no more than eight days. Requesting a listing does not subscribe you to email alerts. To request deletion, contact us with your Instagram account details; we will verify the request before removing matching records. Meta may retain your comments and messages under its own policies. Signups are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. The website runs on Vercel. Resend receives your email address and message content to deliver confirmation and subscription emails on our behalf. We do not sell your data. Messages to our contact address are forwarded through Spaceship to our operator’s mailbox.

We keep your signup while you are subscribed. Every subscription email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops future subscription emails; we retain your address and unsubscribed status to record that preference. You can ask us to delete your signup by emailing our contact address. Unconfirmed signups are deleted 30 days after their confirmation email was sent.

Under the GDPR you can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw your consent. Email hello@cheaphousesafrica.com and we will act on it. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) at imy.se.

The homes we show come from public property listings collected and structured by Africa Real Estate Index. They describe properties, not people. Where a listing names an agency, that is the agency’s own public listing information, and the link takes you to the original source.

If this page changes in a way that matters to you, we will say so at the top with a new date. The site is in an early stage, so expect updates as features launch.
